The Caritas aid has so far reached 235,000 people in Pakistan. 17.2 Million had entrusted to the relief of the German Caritas for the flood relief donors. Of which were drinking water, food, tents, seeds, fertilizer and provided medical assistance and financed construction of houses, schools, bridges and irrigation canals. Caritas international cooperates in the flood help, which will continue, at least two more years, with long-term, reliable partners such as the Caritas Pakistan.

Attention places Caritas international on aid to disadvantaged groups such as the landless farmers were particularly serious for the consequences of the flood. Already before the disaster, they lived in great dependence on the large landowners. Due to the loss of their belongings and guts as well as the need to obtain new seed on over-indebtedness threatened them. Caritas international supports peasants including tents, food and drinking water and rebuild their homes and in the procurement of seeds and fertilizer.

Caritas international special responsibility sees as Catholic charity in a predominantly Muslim country: “We learned of the Pakistani population great openness, gratitude and willingness to cooperate.” “It is a key factor of our Pakistan help to contribute to the understanding between cultures and religions”, says Oliver Müller, head of Caritas international.
